| In honor of 75 years of service to the community and his role as Past Fire Chief, today the West Grove Fire Company honorably transported W. Forrest Hammond to his funeral services. Chief Hammond served as fire chief in the mid-1970s.
Past Chief Hammond was carried aboard Antique 22 (also known as "Elsie") for his final ride from West Grove to services in Oxford. The procession included many WGFC apparatus, followed by family and friends. WGFC first responders also provided an honor guard as Chief Hammond was escorted to and from Antique 22.
In March, Past Chief Hammond was honored for 75 years of membership and service in the West Grove Fire Company. He was presented with a commemorative plaque for his service during a family celebration of Chief Hammond's 90th birthday, including a parade of fire trucks past a family home in New London.
