WGFC Marks the Passing of Past Chief W. Forrest Hammond

The West Grove Fire Company regrets to announce the passing of Past Chief W. Forrest Hammond. Chief Hammond served as fire chief in the mid-1970s.

In March, Past Chief Hammond was honored for 75 years of membership and service in the West Grove Fire Company. He was presented with a commemorative plaque for his service during a family celebration of Chief Hammond's 90th birthday, including a parade of fire trucks past a family home in New London. Past Chief Hammond's services will be held on Monday, July 27th and will begin with a procession from West Grove to services in Oxford. Chief Hammond is expected to take his final fire truck ride aboard Elsie, WGFC's 1928 antique fire truck, to Sacred Heart Church for services. Final details will be announced via an obituary expected shortly through Kuzo & Foulk Funeral Home in West Grove.
