Fire Box - 1209

On Friday at 1533 hours Chester County 911 alerted Company 12, 22, and Newark, DE Company 8 fro the ambulance to respond to a motor vehicle crash with a tanker overturned at the intersection of Southbound Route 896 and Chambers Rock Road in Franklin Township. Many calls were received of a propane truck that is overturned and unknown if the driver is still inside. With all this information the box was upgraded to a haz-mat incident with entrapment.

Rescue 22 and Chief 22 all responded at 1538 hours. Chief 22 arrived on scene to set up "Route 896 Command". He updated the situation to a propane truck on its side with 40% of propane still in the tank. Engine 12-1 next arrived to set up monitoring stations throughout the area. Fire police were requested from West Grove, Avondale, and Atena Fire Companies to shut down 896 in both directions.

Tanker 22 arrived and pulled in behind to Rescue 22 to establish water supply while the rescue crews stretched 200' of 1.75" hand line for safety. Brush 12, Traffic 12, and Ambulance 22-3 all made the response. The Brush and Traffic units were used for traffic control and Ambulance 22-3 was used for re-hab.

At 1806 hours the truck was up righted by Blittersdorf's Towing. After the truck was removed from the scene crews swept the cartway and placed down oil dry to absorb the fluids from the truck. "Route 896 Command" placed the box under control at 1900 hours and all units cleared.
