| On Saturday, January 17, at the request of the Cecil County Department of Emergency Service, the West Grove Fire Company sent an Engine & Ambulance to assist with the standby during President Elect Obama's train ride from Philadelphia to Washington DC.
Engine 22 and Ambulance 22-1 were assigned to a special task force located at Paramedic Station 2. Our role in this special event was to be available to fill in for any of the first due Stations in Cecil County, if a major fire or emergency would occur.
While on standby, the Singerly Fire Company of Elkton was dispatched to a house fire in the 1401 box. While they were handling this emergency we transferred to their station to cover the town of Elkton.
When President Elect Obama's Train was 15 minutes from the town of Elkton, both Engine 22 & Ambulance 22-1 transferred to the Union Hospital in Elkton to stand by at a pre-designated evacuation point, identified in the event anything would have happened during the train's passing through the town. |
