Another key step in the merger of the Avondale and West Grove fire companies into the newly formed Southern Chester County Fire Rescue (SCCFR) has been completed -- the creation of a graphic design to be used across the department from uniforms to apparatus and more.
The new design represents both organizations and our shared history. There is a lot of meaning in the details: The yellow and green trim represents the traditional apparatus colors of both legacy fire companies, bringing their identities together in the new department. The roses and mushrooms recognize the agricultural heritage of our communities, with West Grove once widely known for its rose industry and mushrooms long serving as a staple of Avondale's local economy. You will find some details that are pulled from the official seal for Chester County and the Commonwealth of PA State Coat of Arms including the ship representing state commerce and the plow highlighting agriculture. The hose cart represents the rich history and traditions of both fire companies, paying tribute to the hose carts featured on the historic parade banners currently displayed in each firehouse and honoring the generations of firefighters who came before us.
In short, we wanted something that recognizes where we came from but also represents where we are headed. Along with our Station 26 number, this new design is another critical step as the arrival of the new SCCFR comes closer. For more information about SCCFR, see the link below. |
