Trash Truck Crash in London Grove

October 23, 2026

West Grove first responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Route 841 north of US 1 in London Grove on Thursday. The call dispatch notes shifted to a more and more serious crash, with reports that a trash truck had rolled over and a subject was trapped underneath it.

The call was first dispatched just after 3pm Thursday indicating a trash truck had rolled over and a subject had been ejected. Additional 911 callers then reported that the truck was on top of the victim who was trapped. Those reports upgraded the call for entrapment, adding additional resources beyond the WGFC and Medic 94, adding units from Avondale and Longwood to the list of responding units.

Engine 22-1 and Ambulance 22-1 arrived to find a trash truck on its side on Route 841 just past the entrance to Rose Ann Lane. Also at the scene was a recreational vehicle which had been struck. Fortunately, there was no entrapment with crews immediately working to assess and care for a victim who had been thrown from the trash truck. With no entrapment, command reduced the assignment, with WGFC and Avondale units working to assist EMS crews and assure scene safety. Fire police also assisted with keeping the road closed during the incident.

One patient was transported to the hospital by WGFC with paramedics from Medic 94 on board. WGFC units cleared the scene after about an hour.
