This large mulch fire was burning, with WGFC called to assist Minquas 23 on the mutual aid assist.

Water tankers were requested from Chester County to assist the Minquas Fire Company of New Castle County on a large mulch pile fire on Saturday afternoon.
In very cold and windy conditions, first responders were fighting a fire in a very large pile of mulch in Newport, DE along the Christina River. Two aerial ladders were used to contain the flames, one supplied by a fire hydrant and the second by water tankers. Tanker 22 from the West Grove Fire Company, along with Tankers from Kennett Square 24 and Avondale 23, responded to the scene. Tanker 22 hauled 7,500 gallons of water and was committed to the incident for about 3.5 hours.
