January 30, 2026

It was busy evening for the West Grove Fire Company on January 27th.

The company was alerted for a carbon monoxide alarm at 6:22 pm on the 600 block of West Baltimore Pike in Penn Township. Engine 22-1, Engine 22-2, Ladder 22 along with an ambulance made the response. Upon arrival at the two story commercial building, crews made contact with the reporting party and made entry with meters to discover a faulty carbon monoxide detector. The situation was placed under control and units were made available.

At 7:00 pm, the station was dispatched as part of a first alarm assignment to provide mutual aid for the Cochranville Fire Company for Ladder 22 to a garage fire on the 400 block of Daleville Road in West Fallowfield Township. First arriving Cochranville units reported a 40’ x 40’ detached garage with fire showing from the roof. A working fire dispatch was requested which added additional Chester and Lancaster County fire units including Engine 22-2 and Tanker 22. Crews worked in the extreme cold to remove portions of the interior and exterior of the structure to gain access to the fire. The fire was extinguished and placed under control and West Grove units were released as the assignment was scaled down approximately an hour later.

At 8:32 pm, the third request for service was dispatched for a residential carbon monoxide alarm on the 100 block of Janine Way in Franklin Township. Engine 22-1, Engine 22-2, Ladder 22 and an ambulance responded. First arriving crews entered the home with meters and discovered levels of carbon monoxide in the basement and other parts of the home. Upon investigation, it was determined that the exhaust piping for the home’s LP heating equipment had been blocked by the recent snowstorm and could not operate normally. The blockage was removed and the premise was ventilated by fans till the carbon monoxide readings were acceptable.

Units: Engines 22-1 and 22-2, Tanker 22, Ladder 22, Ambulance 22

Mutual Aid: Various area fire department
