| Statistics always tell a story — the numbers from 2025 tell a story of a fire department that was very busy in 2025 for both fire and emergency medical calls as well. In fact, 2025 was a record year for the WGFC.
Calls for the fire department spiked to 962 —- the most calls in a year in the department’s history. That’s a significant 11.5 percent increase from 863 in 2024. That includes 39 working fires in the WGFC territory and on mutual aid calls. That’s also 13 calls last year that involved the use of rescue tools — so called “pin jobs.” 112 calls were box alarms, dispatched fire calls in our local territory. For fire calls, there were 263 in London Grove, 214 in Penn, 105 in New London, 98 in Franklin, 51 in London Britain, 64 in West Grove, and 167 requests for mutual aid support to area fire departments.
On the EMS side — also a record year, with 3,582 emergency calls, down slightly from the year before. That’s an average of 10+ EMS calls each day of the year. 746 calls were in London Grove, 1,204 in Penn, 315 in New London, 258 in Franklin, 140 in London Britain, 220 in West Grove, 196 in Londonderry, and 503 mutual aid calls.
We salute our volunteer and career first responders for their dedication and service. |
