WGFC Visits Factory for New Squad Pre-Build Meetings
December 31, 2025
As part of its long-term vehicle replacement plan, the West Grove Fire Company has contracted for the construction of a replacement for Squad 22, the company's designated fire engine for built for rescue purposes but also functions as a fire engine. Recently, members of the squad apparatus committee made the journey to E-One factory in Ocala, Florida for pre-build meetings, a two-day careful review of all of the truck's features, cabinetry and specifications.
In October of 2025, the company approved the purchase of an E-One Cyclone stainless-steel rescue pumper as the most suitable and cost-effective selection for the company at a price of approximately $1.16 million. E-One provides a more robust frame and corrosion-resistant galvanized structure, offering superior long-term durability compared to Pierce’s painted steel frame. E-One’s multiplex electrical system, 22,000 lb SteerTek front axle, and 850-gallon water tank deliver excellent performance without increasing the vehicle’s footprint or complexity. The E-One proposal combines a durable stainless-steel design with the shortest realistic lead time among manufacturers, ensuring rapid deployment while maintaining high build quality and NFPA compliance.
The WGFC expects to get more than 20 years of service out of this new truck, which will replace the current Squad 22 which is a 2009 Pierce. It is expected to take approximately three years for the E-One to be delivered to West Grove. The truck was sold by First Choice Fire Apparatus of Hanover, PA.
Meetings over two days reviewed all features, cabinetry and details of the new rescue pumper which will be delivered in 3 years.
Members of the Squad replacement committee recently traveled to Ocala, FL, including Fleet Mechanic Frank Dowlin, Lt. Zach Felker, Firefighter Matt Wood, and Deputy Chief Josh Hawk (not shown Capt. Rob Cazillo).
The committee reviewed detailed plans and specifications while at the factory in Florida.
