Two Fires in Lower Oxford Township
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

November 18, 2025

The West Grove Fire Company assisted the Union Fire Company of Oxford with two working fires on Monday morning.

The first, a reported barn fire, was dispatched early in the morning to Forge Road after multiple callers reported a large barn with fire coming out of the windows. Arriving units found the structure heavily involved in fire. WGFC joined with fire companies from across southern Chester County, Lancaster County and Cecil County on the multiple-hour fire fight. WGFC responded with Ladder 22, Squad 22, Tanker 22 and Utility 22-1. The barn suffered significant damage.

A few hours later, units were called to a building fire in the same area of Lower Oxford Township, this time at Calvary Road. A woodshop was reported on fire behind a residence. Heavy fire was found in that building, with WGFC responding with Engine 22-1, Engine 22-2, Ladder 22, Tanker 22, Brush 22 and Utility 22-1. Units from multiple companies worked on this fire.

Both incidents involved efforts to supply water via tankers given the rural nature of these emergencies.

The West Grove Fire Company thanks the Aetna Hook, Hose & Ladder Company of Newark which stood by West Grove with Ladder 9 during the barn fire, and the Longwood Fire Company whose engine stood by during the woodshop fire.

(Thanks to the Union Fire Company and CBS3 Philadelphia for various photos)
