| Every three years, all ambulance services in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania must go through a process to re-license with the Department of Health. The West Grove Fire Company is proud to announce the completion of this process, which means the service is authorized to operate for another three years serving the community. Also, WGFC just recorded its busiest EMS month ever.
The process includes an extensive review and inspection of the ambulance services vehicles, policies and records. The inspection is done by personnel from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services who handles the inspection for the PA Dept. of Health. We are proud to report that the WGFC ambulance completed its inspection last week with zero deficiencies!
The WGFC operates a basic life support ambulance service with three ambulances covering nearly 100 square miles of territory in southern Chester County. WGFC ambulance covers all of London Grove, Penn and New London Townships; portions of Franklin, Londonderry, and London Britain townships, and all of West Grove borough.
In 2020, the ambulance answered 2,565 emergency calls. May of 2021 has just been completed and recorded as the ambulance's busiest month on record, with 275 emergency dispatches. The previous record was 254 calls in January of 2020. Out of those calls, the ambulance transported 158 times to area hospitals. The WGFC ambulance has so far had 1,158 emergencies dispatched in 2021. |
