West Grove Fire Company first responders were dispatched to a possible house fire on Flint Hill Road in London Britain Township Tuesday evening. Also dispatched were units from Aetna fire company of Newark, Delaware along with Avondale, Union Fire company #1 of Oxford, Hockessin, and Longwood Fire Companies.
The initial 911 call reported fire from the oven and the residence filling with smoke. WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, Tanker 22, Ladder 22, Engine 22-3 and Rescue 22, along with an ambulance and fire police. Engine 22-3 arrived as the first due engine and laid a five inch supply line up the driveway, and deployed an attack line to the home. There the crew found a fire contained to the inside of the oven and a smoke condition. Assisted by the Ladder 22 crew, the firefighters determined no fire spread and used ventilation fans to clear the home of smoke.
