On Monday night just before 10:30pm, the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for an auto accident with reported entrapment on Route 896 in London Britain Township.
The WGFC responded with Rescue 22, Engine 22-3, Engine 22-1 and fire police. An ambulance from Avondale 23 was requested as both WGFC ambulances were out on separate calls, and also dispatched were paramedics from Medic 94. Early reports indicated a pick up truck was on its side across Route 896 just north of the intersection with London Tract Road. The driver was reported trapped but apparently uninjured.
WGFC's Assistant Chief arrived and confirmed the reports, and established a command. Engine 22-3 arrived and began chocking the vehicle to assure stability and confirm the patient's conditions. While the driver was not entrapped, she could not exit the vehicle and the crew determined the windshield would need to be removed. Rescue 22's crew arrived and took further stabilization steps, and then first responder used a windshield saw to remove the glass allowing the driver to exit the vehicle. She was examined by the crew from Ambulance 23 and released.
Crews from the WGFC were on scene for about an hour, with fire police closing 896 for the duration of the incident.
