Two Accidents at the Same Time for WGFC

September 23, 2022

Thursday was a busy day for auto crashes for the West Grove Fire Company with two incidents happening at the same time.

The WGFC was dispatched for a crash after a passerby reported it to the fire station in New London. WGFC and paramedics from Medic 94 were sent to the intersection of State and Avondale Roads in New London Township for a crash with reported ejection. Arriving units reported a two vehicle crash involving a rolled-over vehicle. There was no ejection, and all patients refused treatment -- but one driver jumped out of a car just before it backed into a tree (which had prompted a witness to think the driver had been thrown from the vehicle).

One of the Medic 94 units responding to New London came upon a second crash at Route 796 and Corby Road in Penn Township. That call was then dispatched as the second emergency. In that crash, three vehicles were involved.

WGFC responded with Rescue 22 and both ambulances to New London along with Squad 22. One ambulance left the New London scene to go to the second call. Engine 22-1 responded to Penn Township along with Squad 22. Utility 22 also responded to the first call and was diverted to assist on the second call, with WGFC fire police assisting at both incidents.

Two victims were treated in Penn Township and transported, with Oxford supplying a third ambulance for the incident. Both emergency scenes were cleared about 90 minutes later.
