May 19, 2025

First responders from the West Grove Fire Company joined with area emergency services personnel at the formal ribbon cutting of Penn Township's Regional Emergency Services Operations Center on Saturday.

The Center, which was built partially with grant funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, serves as the new home for the paramedics of Medic 94 (Southern Chester County EMS), Avon Grove Regional Emergency Management, and has dedicated space for an emergency operations center. The facility, at the corner of Old Baltimore Pike and Jenner's Pond Road, was opened November 18, 2024, with Saturday's event a formal ribbon cutting.

The WGFC has a close working relationship with Penn Township, providing fire, rescue and Basic Life Support EMS services in the community. The fire company is also a founding partner for Medic 94, with WGFC members serving on its Board of Directors for the past 40 years, along with representatives from the Avondale, Cochranville, and Union of Oxford Fire Companies and community citizens and municipal officials. AGREM is an organization whose volunteers bring expertise to assist first responders and municipalities in emergencies and maintains its offices and communications equipment at the Penn Twp. facility.

The event was attended by first responders, elected officials, community members. Particular recognition was given at the event for Penn Township's elected officials and staff for their leadership in securing the grant and assuring completion of the facility.
