Rescue Box - 1206

At 1815 hours the Company was dispatched along with Medic 94 and Ambulance 23-2 (Avondale) for a motor vehicle collision (MVC) with entrapment in the 400 block of Chesterville Road in Franklin Township. Ambulances 12-1 & 23-2, Deputy 22, Rescue 22 (w/ 4 firefighters) and Medic 94-1 and 194 all responded minutes after the dispatch. Rescue 12 (w/5) and Engine 32 (w/2) both followed up afterwards.

All West Grove units arrived simultaneously together with Deputy 22 assuming the Command. After size up, it was determined that there was one pickup truck off the roadway after striking a utility pole with two patients, and one is trapped. A 'door pop' tactic was needed to remove one pediatric patient still inside.

All members of Rescue 22 stabilized the pickup truck with use of wood cribbing and the 'Junkyard Dogs'(special stabilization jacks). Hydraulic spreaders went in service to open the door and the patient was packaged and removed within 13 minutes of dispatch.

Ambulance 12-1 along with Medic 194 transported one pediatric patient to A.I. DuPont Hospital for further treatment. Ambulance 23-2 evaluated the other patient and the patient refused further treatment.

Rescue 12 arrived and the crew staged while Engine 32 crew cleared the roadway of all debris. All utility companies were made notification of the damaged pole and PECO arrived on scene in under 30 minutes. The scene was turned over to Pennsylvania State Police for investigation and all West Grove and Avondale units cleared.
