Firefighters from the West Grove Fire Company were dispatched on Monday afternoon, January 20 for a brush fire off of Fox Brook Drive in London Britain Township.

Engine 32 responded from the company's third station in London Britain Township, along with Tanker 22 and Engine 22 from the West Grove Station. Responding units were advised that a small trash fire had spread rapidly into a field fire with nearby homes as exposures.

Engine 32 arrived on location to find a one acre field burning with the fire spreading fueled by dry brush and a steady breeze. The crew pulled a 1-3/4" hand line and began knocking down the flames, supplemented by a portable water can. Additional crew arrived with Squad 22, from Station 32.

The fire was knocked down by the initial crews and declared under control in less than five minutes. Tanker 22 arrived and resupplied Engine 32, replacing 750 gallons of water used to contain the brush fire. Arriving crews on the additional units, including Ambulance 22 and Brush 22, assisted with hand tools to extinguish all additional materials, under the direction of Deputy 22, who arrived and assumed Command.

Units were cleaned up and back in service in less than one hour.
