Busy Friday-WGFC Handles 10 Calls

The West Grove Fire Company completed a busy Friday handling 10 fire calls and 4 EMS calls.

Beginning the day at 08:50 am was an Auto Accident at the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Jenners Pond rd, crews obtained sign off's and cleared debris in the roadway.

In the early afternoon the dispatch came over for a Fire Alarm at the Luther House in Jenners Pond, found to be caused by a power surge in the area.

While enroute to the Fire Alarm a second call was dispatched for Brush 12 and Tanker 22 to assist Union Fire Company Station 21 with a large woods fire. The West Grove crews assisted on the scene for an hour and a half.

After clearing the Fire Alarm at the Luther House crews were advised of an accident with unknown injuries on the route 1 bypass, reported as one vehicle on its side. Rescue 22 and Engine 12 handled the accident and EMS evaluated one patient.

Once crews cleared the scene of the accident Chester County Fireboard redirected Engine 12 to cover at Union Fire Company, Station 21, while they were out operating on the Woods Fire.

Engine 12 was dispatched from 21 to assist Cecil County Station 8 on a Building Fire. Engine 12 was recalled from the building fire and returned to New London available.

The 7th call for the day was for an automatic fire alarm on Dartmouth lane in Penn twp. The alarm was found to be set off by cooking and crews cleared the scene available.

At 07:56 pm the company was dispatched for an Engine to relocate to Avondale Fire Company, Station 23, while they operated on the scene of a building fire in the southern end of their district.

Engine 22 was called in from the cover assignment to assist on the scene of the building fire and the company was dispatched for the balance to assist on the second alarm.

The 10th call for the day was dispatched at 8:59 pm for the cover companies, Engine 21-2 and Lancaster Tanker 5-1-1, for an accident on Route 896 North of Walnut Glen Rd. Initial reports were one vehicle on its side with the occupant reported to be out. Rescue 12 held the assigment to the Rescue taking care of some debris and ambulance 22-1 transported one patient to Jennersville Regional Hospital. Engine 21-2 was then called in to assist 23 and Lancaster Tanker 5-1-1 remained at 22 covering with Cochranville Fire Company out of our Main Station.
