| Sarah Wood has been awarded two scholarships associated with the West Grove Fire Company.
Each year, the West Grove Fire Company sponsors scholarships to deserving graduates of the Avon Grove High School for students considering further studies in public service or emergency services. Scholarships are presented in honor of Past Fire Chief John T. Crawford. For 2026, the scholarship was awarded to Sarah who will attend Immaculata studying nursing as she pursues her goal of being an ER nurse. Sarah was also awarded a Girard-McMillan Family First Responder Scholarship, offered by Joe, Marie, and Jordan - Joe is also a member of the fire company.
A graduating senior at Avon Grove, Sarah is the daughter of long-time volunteer first responder Matt Wood who has served the fire department and the community for many, many years as an active firefighter and elected officer.
The scholarships were presented at the annual pre-graduation ceremonies held at the high school, with WGFC represented by Firefighter Lisa Glass. Congratulations and best wishes to Sarah! |
