A surprise early morning snowfall left roads icy and slippery in the pre-dawn hours leading to a crash on Route 896 - New London Road in Franklin Township Tuesday morning.

The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for a car vs. tree in Franklin Township between Good Hope and Appleton Roads at 5:59am. WGFC responded with two ambulances, Engine 22-1, Engine 22-3 and Squad 22. Ambulance 22-1 and Engine 22-3 arrived on scene to find a vehicle off the roadway into some trees with significant front-end damage. The assignment was reduced to units on scene who maintained a lane of traffic along busy Route 896 with assistance from the fire police.

WGFC units cleared the scene in about 45 minutes, turning it over to the PA State Police.
