The West Grove Fire Company has signed a contract for a new squad truck (an engine that also serves as an apparatus that carries a full complement of rescue equipment). A contract signing ceremony was held at Station 22 with First Choice Fire Apparatus, the local dealer representing E-One, the manufacturer.
The new E-One Cyclone will be the new Squad 22, replacing the fire company's current squad, a 2009 Pierce. The fire company maintains a long-term vehicle replacement plan which schedules the regular replacement of fire apparatus as they near their scheduled 20-year service life. The delivery of the new truck is timed with the scheduled replacement of the 2009 Pierce on a schedule that has been endorsed and funded by the fire company's municipal partners. The new Squad 22 will feature an all stainless-steel body with compartments to store and deploy rescue equipment and tools, and carry 850 gallons of water with a full compliment of firefighting and supply hose.
Congratulations to the apparatus committee for their work to spec the truck led by Chairman Josh Hawk. The new Squad 22 will take more than 36 months before it will be delivered to the WGFC. The new truck will cost approximately $1.1 million.
