The dispatch at 6:21 AM this morning was among the worst first responders hear: house fire, children reported trapped...that was the case when area fire companies were called for a fire in West Fallowfield Township early this morning. A caller reported fire from the front of the residence, with children inside in the rear.
West Grove Fire Company was dispatched, along with units from nine other departments, to assist Cochranville with Ladder 22 for the call on Bailey Crossroads Road. Within minutes, the first arriving Cochranville officer reported heavy fire conditions -- fortunately all subjects had made it out of the house okay. WGFC responded with Ladder 22, Engine 22-2 and soon added Tanker 22 when a tanker task force was requested for rural water supply.
WGFC was part of a large emergency response from nine departments. Units were on the scene for several hours.
