The West Grove Fire Company, along with neighboring companies, responded to a reported house fire on Kings Row Road in New London Township on Saturday evening.

Reports were of flames from the garage area. The WGFC responded with Engine 22-2, Rescue 22, Ladder 22, Tanker 22, Engine 22-3, and the ambulance. The first arriving WGFC officer reported what appeared to be an external fire on the garage side of the house largely extinguished, and requested the first engine lay a supply line of up the driveway.

WGFC Engine 22-2 laid 400 feet of large diameter supply line up the winding driveway and then deployed a 1-3/4" attack line to continue to wet down the side of the house, where an external fire had run up a portion of the wall, and melted a lot of siding up to the roof line. Next due Oxford Engine 21-4 laid supply line back from the driveway to a nearby fire hydrant on Mcberty Court. Ladder 21 backed up the driveway and positioned to raise its aerial to the roof.

Crews opened up the external wall to check for fire extension, with crews from West Grove and Oxford checking for smoke and fire extension on the homes second floor and in the attic. Crews used thermal imaging cameras to check for heat inside walls, and used carbon monoxide monitors to check for gasses in the residence. Fortunately, the homeowners were at the residence and were able to knock down most of the fire with a garden hose before firefighters arrived and that limited the damage to the exterior wall in the area of the garage.

Units were released and the work to repack the supply line and other equipment was started. WGFC units were on scene for about two hours. There were no injuries.
