Members of West Grove Fire Company and Ladder 22 were part of a special flag raising ceremony at the State Police Barracks in Avondale on October 6.

As part of a statewide effort, POW-MIA flags have been authorized to fly at state facilities. Troop J became the first State Police Barracks in the Commonwealth to fly the flag as part of a ceremony that featured remarks from Lt. Daniel Steele. Ladder 22 was present to fly WGFC's very large American flag, and former Fire Company Past President Steve Flegal joined Lt. Steele in raising the POW-MIA flag. Steve is a Veteran who served his country in Vietnam, and serves as a regular volunteer at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC.

Interestingly, the POW-MIA flag is the only flag authorized to officially be flown under the US Flag. The flag flies at all three of WGFC's fire stations.

We are grateful to Lt. Steele for his leadership, and the invitation to have WGFC and Ladder 22 participate in this important ceremony on Monday.
