May 1, 2021

Units from several area fire companies were dispatched for a house fire Saturday at noon in London Britain Township.

West Grove Fire Company received the dispatch for a house fire in the Morgan Hollow development off of Route 896. Along with WGFC, units from Aetna Hook, Hose and Ladder Company of Newark Delaware, Hockessin Fire Company, also in Delaware, Singerly of Elkton, and the Union Fire Company of Oxford and Avondale Fire Company were also dispatched.

Units were advised that an electrical panel in the garage was on fire, and that the residents were evacuating. Newark's Engine 9-4 arrived on scene and stretched an attack line to the garage. Next arriving was Engine 22-3 from the WGFC station in London Britain Township, which laid a 5" supply line from Route 896 into the development to provide a supply line for Newark's Engine. Ladder 22 arrived and assisted in laddering the residence, while Tanker 22 provide a water supply out on Route 896. The crew from Engine 22-2 from New London also assisted with initial operations.

The electrical panel had significant damage, with some extension of fire right around the panel which was put out with an extinguisher. Firefighters remained on scene until PECO arrived to pull the meters.

Units repacked the supply line and cleared the scene in about one hour. There were no injuries reported.
