The first Monday morning of the New Year proved a slippery one, as wet roadways and lowering temperatures at sunrise combined to create icy conditions on roads across Chester County.

Particularly true was the downhill stretch of Oxford Road near Hutchinson Road. Just past 8am, the Chester County 911 Center received calls for an auto accident involving persons trapped and dispatched the West Grove Fire Company along with paramedics from Medic 94. Engine 22-2 responded from West Grove, and Rescue 22 responded from the New London Station. Medic Units 94-1 and 94-2 also responded, along with both ambulances from West Grove, the WGFC Utility and fire police.

Responding units found two vehicles flipped over independent from each other. The two vehicles did not hit each other, but were upside down in the same stretch of roadway. The first arriving ambulance found no entrapment, and released the the medic units. The ambulance crews examined all involved and no patients were transported to the hospital.

Road conditions were so icy that the New London Township road crew was requested to salt the roadway to allow for a more safe working area for the tow truck drivers to remove both vehicles. The WGFC was on scene for about 45 minutes.
