West Grove volunteers responded to Delaware and Maryland for two separate incidents Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

Newark, Delaware

Just after wrapping up a house fire and medical assist calls in its own district, the WGFC was requested to assist Aetna of Newark with a fire at the Unity Star Campus on Research Boulevard, part of the University of Delaware. Engines 22-1 and 22-2 responded and went on location at a warehouse that stores buses. Reports indicated that a bus inside the building had caught on fire, creating challenging conditions for the more than eight fire companies on the scene. WGFC crews remained in the manpower pool before being released.

Elkton, Maryland

Just after 2:00am Friday morning, WGFC was requested for an Engine and a Ladder to assist Singerly Fire Company of Elkton on a tractor trailer on fire at the Burris Cold Storage warehouse on Fletchwood Road in Cecil County. Engine 22-2, Ladder 22 and Utility 22 responded.

Units found a tractor trailer on fire parked at the loading dock. Initial crews worked to knock down the fire, while other units worked to ascertain there was no fire spread to the building. Ladder 22 arrived and raised it's aerial to the roof, where crews advanced to check for damage. Other crews from WGFC assisted in the manpower pool. There were no injuries reported at this fire.
