West Grove Fire Company Assist to Lancaster County on Large Barn Fire

May 19, 2020

Tuesday afternoon, fire companies from three counties were called to Peach Bottom, PA in Lancaster County to fight a large barn fire. The fire was located in the area served by the Robert Fulton Fire Company, Station 89.

Initial dispatch reports indicated fire in the hayloft. Strong winds on Tuesday helped fuel the fire, and resulted in a large mutual-aid response. Fire companies were on the scene from across Lancaster and Chester counties in PA, and also from Cecil County in Maryland.

The West Grove Fire Company was originally dispatched to provide a fire engine to standby at Station 89. Shortly after responding, the engine was re-directed to the scene to join the fire fight. Crews had to use heavy equipment to separate the hay pile and ultimately extinguish the blaze.

Peach Bottom is located about 25 miles west of West Grove near the Susquehanna River.
