A large column of smoke and a loud "explosion" caught the attention of many in the West Grove -- Jennersville area on Sunday, February 23. Soon the sounds of fire sirens were evident as West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for a call along Ewing Road in Penn Township, west of Route 796.

Originally dispatched as a vehicle fire, WGFC responded toward a large column of black smoke and went on location to find several vehicles, other items, and brush on fire. The primary fire was found in a large recreational vehicle, with several other cars and a 53' foot trailer (part of a tractor trailer) burning. Those fires also set nearby brush on fire, as well.

WGFC Engine 22-1 arrived and laid a supply line up the driveway and the crew began fighting the fire. The Engine was supplied by Tanker 22. Crews from WGFC Engines 22-2 and 22-3 arrived and also assisted in the fire fight. A Tanker from Cochranville was requested for additional water. Crews from Tanker 27 and Engine 27-2 assisted in the incident.

Fire police were on scene for traffic control, and the ambulances were, as well, with no injuries reported. The PA State Police and Chester County Fire Marshals are investigating the incident.
