Crews from the West Grove Fire Company were in the village of New London for a reported chimney fire on Valentine's Day evening.

Located at a residence along Route 896, WGFC units reported a moderate smoke condition on the first floor and basement on arrival. The source of the smoke was a wood-burning stove in a finished basement which wasn't venting the smoke properly.

The interior crew from Engine 22-2, from the New London Station, emptied the burning wood in the stove, while the crew from Ladder 22, from the West Grove station, removed the chimney cap to examine the chimney pipe. The wall around the stove and stove piping were also inspected, and crews helped to clear smoke from the residence.

Tanker 22 and Ambulance 22-1 also responded.
