October is Fire Safety Month

Everyone knows that October contains Fire Prevention Week. Here at WGFC we take the whole month to conduct fire safety talks around our district. We will be at Penn London Elementary School, Nazarene Academy, Landenberg Christian Academy, Avon Grove Charter School, Assumption BVM School and many of the pre-schools and day care in the area. This is something we do annually in coordination with Fire Prevention Week. We take this time to provide a safety message to the children in hopes they take it home to their families. These messages include; have working smoke detectors in every room, don't play with matches, stop-drop & roll, call 911 in an emergency, stay low in smoke, sleep with bedroom doors closed and have a family meeting place outside your home. We also take the big shiny Yellow Fire Trucks along to allow the children the opportunity to look them over. So ask your elementary children what they learned for fire prevention this year.

WGFC preaches fire prevention all year long when attending various places and events. We encourage that you have working smoke detectors in every sleep room on every level of your home. Please take time to check to make sure they are working and discuss with your family what to do when they go off and where to meet outside.
