Route-1 Auto Accident - Vehicle Down Embankment

Saturday morning at 9:05am the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to a reported auto accident northbound Route-1 at mile marker 13.7 in London Grove township. Initial information provided at dispatch stated a vehicle over the guardrail down an embankment subject out of the vehicle. Supplemental information provided indicated a possible ejected subject which added Medic-94. Rescue-21 and Amb. 211 of the Union Fire Company, Oxford was on Route-1 and responded on the assist. Both units arrived first on scene and found an SUV ~ 50 feet down the embankment with one injured subject. Crews began patient assessment and packaging for extrication. Rescue-22 and Engine-22-2 arrived and deployed a rope hoisting system to lift the patient safely to the roadway and awaiting Ambulance.

The involved subject was transported to the Trauma Unit at Christiana Care for treatment. Northbound Route-1 was closed down for 30 minutes by PSP and Fire Police for the purpose of vehicle removal from the embankment. All units cleared by 10:45am.
