On a wind-swept day, the WGFC was very busy, responding to 14 calls. Just after 10:00am, the company was dispatched to a reported building fire in a mushroom house near the intersection of South Guernsey and Pennock Bridge Roads in Franklin Township.
Avondale fire company was also dispatched for an engine and ambulance.

Crews from Engine 22-2 and Ladder 22 made the initial response, with Ladder 22 arriving first with Deputy 22 as officer, who reported fire from the roof area of an attached shed like structure on the west side of the "doubles." Ladder 22's crew pulled an 1-3/4 attack line and moved to knock down the fire, with Engine 22-2 arriving, preparing to supply water and the crews assisting.

Also responding were Tanker 22, Engine 22-1, Engine 22-3, Ambulance 122-1, Ambulance 23, Engine 23-1 & 2, Rescue 23, and the fire police. Some crews, including Tanker 22, responded from standbys in Cochranville for a previous working barn fire.

Crews made fast work of the fire, holding its position near the point of origin, despite operating in 20+ mph winds. Crews opened up the roof area to check for extension. Units were released after approximately 90 minutes, with no injuries reported.
