West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to Harmony Road in West Grove Borough for a house fire on Monday March 21 at 1423 hours. Avondale Fire Company and Union Fire Company of Oxford were dispatched to assist. WGFC responded with 27 members. A crew was on scene from the borough station within 4 minutes of the 911 call. The homeowner and WGPD officers were able to ensure that all occupants were safely accounted for and closed the doors to the house which contained the fire to the rear addition. The WGPD officers on scene reported a working fire in the rear of the structure. The initial WGFC crews investigated and found a room involved in the basement rear addition. The assignment was upgraded to a working fire, dispatching units from Medic 94, Cochranville Fire Company and Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company of Unionville.

WGFC crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire with one hose line and kept the fire isolated to the room of origin. Crews checked the remainder of the house for any possible fire extension and performed ventilation throughout the house. Fire crews operated on scene for approximately 2 hours. The fire is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit.

WGFC would like to remind all residents, in the event that you have a fire emergency in your home, early 911 notification and closing doors will greatly improve the fire department's ability to save lives and preserve property loss.

WGFC would also like to thank the management and staff at the Sunoco A Plus on Baltimore Pike for their kindness by bringing refreshments to the scene for the firefighters.
