At 0813 the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for the Ladder truck to assist KVFD, Station 8, with a fully involved house fire in the 500 block of West Fourth Avenue in Parkesburg. The ladder arrived and staged about a block away sending the crew up to the scene. The bulk of the fire was knocked prior to Ladder 22's arrival, the crew assisted with checking exposure structures for fire extension as well as overhaul in multiple other units. The ladder cleared the assignment at 1200.

While the Ladder crew was out at KVFD the company was dispatched to a 2nd call on Edgehill Avenue in West Grove Borough for the trash fire. Engine 22-1 responded with 3 and arrived to find a small attended burn pile that was extinguished by the homeowner on request. The assignment was recalled by Lieutenant 22A.

At 1345 the Company was dispatched to assist Cochranville, Station 27, with a barn fire on Street rd in Londonderry twp. First arriving 27 units advised they had a barn that was fully involved. The working fire dispatch, tanker task force and fire police task force was requested to assist on the operation. Ladder 22 placed the aerial master stream into service while Engine 22-1 and 22-2 assisted in establishing a water supply to the scene. WGFC crews operated on scene assisting with fire suppression, overhaul, EMS, Fire Police and water supply for the duration of the incident.

While responding to the barn fire Engine 22-3 was redirected to 418 Sunblaze lane for the unknown type fire. The caller saw a large column of smoke and was unsure of the origin. It was quickly determined that the smoke was from the barn fire on Street road. The Engine cleared that assignment and responded to the Barn fire.

Finally, at 2150 Stations 22, 23 and 21 were alerted for the House fire assignment at 260 Rose Hill Rd in London Grove twp. Reporting parties stated that the apartment in the rear of the house was on fire. Chief 22 quickly arrived on scene and ordered all responding units into level 1 staging. Engine 22-1 arrived and staged at the hydrant in front of 250 Rose Hill Rd. Upon further investigation it was determined there was no fire and the matter was turned over to the police.

About 15-20 volunteers collectively spent the majority of their Saturday serving the greater Avon Grove Community. If you ask any of them about it, they wouldn't have it any other way. If you would like to volunteer and assist your community, please visit http://www.wgfc.org/content/join/ for an application.

Special thank you to First West Chester Fire Company Engine 51-2 and Quarryville fire company Truck 57 for covering the WGFC local while crews operated at the Barn fire!!
