Three members of the West Grove Fire Company completed Vehicle Rescue Technician training. Firefighters Josh Talley, Todd Mazur, and Junior Firefighter Zach McKay completed the month long course held at the Chester County Emergency Services Training Center in Coatesville, PA.

The trio completed the course along with members from surrounding departments, including the Longwood Fire Company and the Union Fire Company. The course was designed to educate firefighters on the tools and techniques used for extricating crash victims. They were taught vehicle anatomy as well as hazards associated with new vehicle technology. Students were instructed on managing a crash scene as well. Skills learned in the classroom were then tested in the field in practice scenarios. The course concluded with firefighters being grouped together and facing real life scenarios, testing their ability to work as a team and rapidly extricate crash victims. These members are now eligible for Pennsylvania State Certification.

The department prides itself on our members pursuing the latest training. These firefighters are just another example of the dedication and commitment our members put forth to make our district a safer place.
