When a 7 year old girl sets her mind to something, look out -- she's determined! Every parent knows this, no more so than the parents of little Lexi Whisler of West Grove. When their daughter wanted thank the US military for saving her dog (who is a rescue pet from Afghanistan), the name of the soldier responsible could not be determined -- so Lexi became determined to thank all of the heros. So Lexi started a continuing campaign to thank members of the armed services and police and fireman wherever she goes.

Her campaign of thanks brought her to Station 22 of the West Grove Fire Company last evening. Lexi and Jasper and her family arrived for a Monday evening drill night, and her charm and smile soon had the fire station enveloped in her warm charm and energy. She and Jasper toured the station, and thanked the volunteer firefighters for their service. As she has told some many, she just want to thank her heroes: "They protect us from harm and keep us safe and free."

Lexi has given our nearly 4,000 of her thank you cards, which she signs herself and on behalf of Jasper. So busy does this keep her, her Facebook page has her nicknamed "The Lexinator." Recently, learning of the tragic death of a Philadelphia police officer, Lexi sent cards to all of the fallen officer's peers. In fact, everywhere she travels, she has a ready supply of her trademark thank you cards, as was evidenced during her visit to the WGFC last evening.

While there, Fire Chief Eric Felker and President John Chambers presented Lexi with a t-shirt and patch from the fire company. "We are proud to serve our community, and thrilled that Lexi, Jasper and the Whisler family call West Grove their home," said Chambers.
