Be Aware of Phone Fund Raising Scams -- Especially at the Holidays

Residents in the Avon Grove area have reported getting phone calls in the last few days from people saying they are raising money for the fire company. This often happens during the holiday season.

We want you to know:

The West Grove Fire Company NEVER solicits for donations by telephone. We handle all of our own fundraising directly, and do NOT use third party companies or agencies to seek donations on our behalf.

We recommend ignoring these calls, and hanging up. Never give out personal information, social security numbers, bank information or credit card numbers over the telephone. The elderly are very much at risk from these phone scams, so please make sure they understand this information as well.

The WGFC counts on the community for its generous support during our annual ambulance and fire department fund raising campaigns. We will only contact our community via US Mail, and never by telephone. Please contact us if you have questions.

We wish all of you a joyous, healthy, and safe Thanksgiving Holiday season.
