Rescue Box - 2204

At 0715 hours the Company was alerted for a motor vehicle crash in front of the 800 block of Old Baltimore Pike in the Jennersville section of Penn Township. This crash was called in by FF O'Connell who was just on his way to work. He reported a one vehicle crash with the vehicle off the roadway and into a hedgerow and stone wall with one subject still belted in the drivers seat.

FF O'Connell made access to the patient by opening the drivers door and secured the vehicle by placing the vehicle in Park and removing the keys to the vehicle. He began patient assessment asking the driver questions about injuries and noticed that the patient was very confused; which added Medic 94 for the change in mental status.

Ambulance's 22-1 and 22-2 hit the street immediately along with Medic 94. Ambulance 1 arrived first to begin patient care. The crew removed the patient from the vehicle and loaded him into the ambulance. Medic 94-1 and Ambulance 22-1 transported the driver to Christiana Emergency Room.

Ambulance 22-2 arrived and took blocking position in the northbound lanes at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike at Jenners Village Center with the crew splitting. The driver set up traffic control while the EMT joined up with the Rescue 22 team. Rescue 22, staffed with two, made the response and arrived to take a blocking position and set up command for the incident. The crew assisted with traffic control until Fire Police members arrived and checked for any hazards that may be leaking from the vehicle. The crew then cleared the roadway of the mailboxes and mail that littered the lawns also.

Crews picked up within 40 minutes with the scene turned over to PSP Avondale for the investigation.
