Over 20 WGFC active members attended a water moving exercise held at a local quarry. Members drilled on moving large volumes of water using conventional drafting techniques with a pumper at the waters edge, along with a newer device (Turbo Draft) which enables firefighters to access water supplies up to 200 feet away from the pumper. With a large rural district to cover, this device provides West Grove Firefighters a distinct advantage to access ponds, large streams even swimming pools as a water sources otherwise inaccessible with conventional drafting methods.

The drill also included the deployment of large diameter hose, master stream devices and a ladder pipe operation all of which requires a high volume water source. By the end of the session members had a better understanding of the flow capabilities of the apparatus and drafting devices.
