WGFC crews were dispatched to assist Avondale Fire Company on Monday August 18, 2014 at 0847 for a building fire on Starr Road in New Garden Township. Dispatch information stated that a tractor was on fire, and it was hitched to a hay bailer, parked next to a building. Chief 23 responded just after dispatch with L22 and E23-2. Units were advised that the PD was on location with a tractor well involved but did not believe that there was extension to the adjacent building. Chief 23 went on location and reported the tractor was well involved with extension to the building, which was a large industrial (mushroom processing) facility. The well involved tractor extended to the wood framing and roofing lumber on the one story addition to the facility. All workers were evacuated prior to FD arrival. E23-2 arrived and was able to knock a bulk of the fire with the initial hand line. L22 arrived and was instructed to check the interior for extension and ladder the building. R22 responded and was instructed to assist with roof operations. T22 responded and set up to supply E23-2 with water. E24-2, R25, L25 and NCC E19-5 all responded and assisted with operations. All WGFC units were retuned to station at 1100 hours. Special thanks to Quarryville Fire Company, E57-4, for covering WGFC during the fire.
