This past June, three members completed a week long Junior Firefighting Academy. They learned about basic skills such as rolling hose, folding tarps, and more. They also took a tour of the KME truck manufacturing facility in Nesquehoning, PA and took a tour of the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society.

Of the three members that attended this summer, two of them were recognized for their achievements during the class. First was junior firefighter Zach McKay. He was one of three from the class that received honorable mention towards the class cadet award. Junior firefighter Jordan Gouge was also recognized. She shared the class cadet award with one of her fellow classmates. The class cadet award is given by the instructors at the end of the camp. The instructors pick one, or in this case two, of the cadets as the individuals that excelled the most; showed leadership skills; and was overall well rounded and liked by all for the Junior fire camp class cadet award. The WGFC Junior members have represented the company well as they have earned the class cadet awards for the past few years in the Junior firefighter camps held by Chester County.

West Grove is proud of the three young members and their willingness to learn. We look forward to seeing them continue their growth in the fire service. Congratulations Junior Firefighters Jordan, Zach, and Ryan.
