Rescue Box - 2204

The powerful thunderstorms that rolled in from the west brought the West Grove Volunteers to work. At 2003 hours the box was alerted for a residential rescue in the Oxford Village Mobile Home park for a tree that fell into the house. Reports stated a tree fell into the house and there was a vehicle in the driveway but the reporting party was unsure if the home was occupied. With Ambulances 12-1 and 22-1 both staffed they hit the road promptly. Rescue 22 staffed up with 6 volunteers followed next. Rescue 12 had four members, Engine 32 had 3 members and Ladder 22 with 2 members also made the response.

Chief 22 arrived confirmed the report and the crew of Ambulance 12-1 geared up and forced open the front door to do a search of the house and asses the damage. Chief 22 established Command on the West Grove private channel since Chester County Fireboard (West Fire channel) was overloaded with multiple companies handling storm related events. Once access was gained, Rescue 22 arrived and the officer and Ambulance crew joined to do the search while the remainder of the crew stage at the truck.

After two complete sweeps of the structure the building was found to be unoccupied. The crew reviewed the area of damage and no interior damage was seen therefore no contact to the Penn Township Building Codes Enforcement was necessary. The General Manager for the mobile home park made a response and the scene was turned over to them. West Grove units picked up and were ready in just under 45 minutes.
