On Mother's Day, six volunteers staffed Engine Company 22 to handle an apparatus display at the 11th annual Down Syndrome Association of Delaware Buddy Walk located at the U of D Athletic Complex in Newark, DE. West Grove Fire Company was asked to participate in this special day to have the apparatus as an attraction for the children. The crew opened up all the compartments and helped kids in and out of the truck so parents and family members could take pictures. Some kids were interested in various tools mounted on the truck and the crew answered any and all questions the children may have had. The truck was parked at the start line from 11:00AM until 2:30PM before making a return back to West Grove. Throughout the entire day volunteers met with children, parents and friends and discussed what it is like being a firefighter. Members even met some families that are within the West Grove fire district and they were very happy to see us support this event. We thank the staff of the Buddy Walk for everything and look forward to seeing you next year!
