On Saturday, April 19 the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to assist Cecil County Station 14 (Elkton) on a reported woods fire in Maryland, just across the Pennsylvania and Delaware borders. At the same time, Newark, DE's Aetna (Stations 7, 8, 9 & 10) were dispatched at the same location for a reported structure fire.

West Grove responded with Brush 12 from New London, and Tanker 22 from West Grove, and Engine 32 from the station in Landenberg.

Engine 32 made access from the Delaware side of the incident, going on location with Ladder 9, and Engine 14. On arrival, Elkton said the two engines could handle the call, and returned Ladder 9 and other West Grove units.

Engine 32 was called down to the scene to supply water to Engine 14 and assist crews. The fire was in area immediately behind a residence, where a shop/shed and a variety of industrial equipment were stored. The fire had burned around stored propane tank and other flammables.

Engine 32 provided 1000 gallons of water and the crew assisted with overhaul, including efforts spray down the area with firefighting foam. Crews returned in approximately one hour after dispatch, with no reported injuries.

With the third station in London Britain Township, the WGFC is increasingly requested to assist Elkton and Newark on emergencies.
