Fire Box: 2202

At 1422 hours the Company was alerted for an appliance fire in the 100 BLK of East Avondale Road in London Grove Township. Reports stated flames visible in the electric stove. Ladder 22 with four, Tanker 22 with one, Engine 22 with two and Ambulance 22-1 all made the response followed by Chief 22.

Ladder 22 arrived to meet with the homeowner to get a better understanding of the situation and the crew entered the house to investigate. There was a smoke condition found inside the basement entrance and located the stove on the first floor. The crew secured the power to the stove and removed it from the structure. Once outside the crew opened the stove and found the remains of a dish towel that caught on fire. The heat was so intense that the protective glass window shattered.

With this report Command scaled the assignment back to one and one; meaning one engine and one ladder. Crews continued to check the kitchen wall for any heat that could lead to a fire. The engine crew helped opening windows to naturally ventilate the first floor from all smoke. Crews picked up and went ready in about 30 minutes.
