With the recent and impending ice and snow storms in the area there have been and potentially will be an increased usage of portable generators due to power outages. Portable generators, charcoal grills and vehicle exhaust are just a few items that produce deadly carbon monoxide gas. Carbon Monoxide gas is an odorless, colorless and tasteless gas that can only be detected with the use of a carbon monoxide detector. Follow all safety precautions in your generator's owners manual. Have a carbon monoxide detector present in your home when using a generator. Please read the news release from Chester County related to generator use and please feel free to visit the other resources listed below for more information on the dangers of Carbon Monoxide g.
