| Memorial Day weekend was another busy, yet fun weekend for the WGFC. It marked the end of National EMS week. Members attended an EMS awards banquet on Thursday night; a few getting a Life Save award. On Friday, a crew of 6 members went up to Collingdale, Delaware County in Rescue 22 and Ambulance 22-C to support current WGFC Chief and past Chief of Collingdale Fire company, Eric Felker, in assisting with the arrival of Bicyclers who travel across country each year to commemorate EMS week.
On Saturday, the Borough of West Grove held its annual Memorial Day parade. West Grove, along with Avondale and Kennett Fire Companies, took part in the parade. It started at the Avon Grove High School and ended in the center of town at the West Grove Memorial site on East Evergreen Street.
On Monday, Memorial day, WGFC sent 2 fire trucks and it's Antique 1928 Hale pumper to Kennett Square for their Memorial day parade. Kennett (24), Longwood (25), Avondale (23), Po-Mar-Lin (Unionville) (36), West Grove (22), and Hockessin (New Castle County, Del.) (19) were all the fire companies in attendance this year. The parade went through town past many spectators. |
