On Tuesday evening May 14 at 1857 hours, West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to Route 896 and Appleton Road in Franklin Township for an accident. Rescue 12, Rescue 22 and Ambulances 22-1 and 22-2 made the response minutes after dispatch. Assistant 22 arrived on scene to find a sedan versus pick up truck with two occupants still inside the sedan. Upon further investigation, Assistant 22 notified Chief 22 that the driver would need to be extricated. The assignment was then upgraded to entrapment which added Medic 94 and brought fire police to the scene. R12 arrived and stabilized the vehicle and deployed their hydraulic tools. R22 arrived and assisted with the rescue operation. The patient was removed in ten minutes. A third ambulance was requested and A22-3 made the response. All three ambulances transported patients, with one patient requiring ALS treatment. All patients were taken to Christiana Hospital in Newark for treatment. All units cleared the scene shortly after. This was another example of the professional teamwork of the WGFC. Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers and career staff who assisted.
